PchiruShelni or Bomena is a sexual practice in rural Bhutan. It is popularly known as ‘Night Hunting’ among the literate. ‘pchiru’ means night and ‘shelni’ means to wander around (that men wander in search of women).

Bhutan is a Buddhist country located in the southern part of Asia, there are majorly vast in craftsmanship and they have their own locally made textiles.

Bomena is a custom whereby the boy ( due to be a suitor) will sneak into the house of the girl he likes without informing either the girl or her parent. The act can keep going on as far as the guy is not caught and he can be forced to marry her.

There are special tools already designed or fashioned to open doors and windows and sometimes the prowler can pass through the roof, very funny.

Despite this custom consider to be absurd, there is gender equality. The girl has the right to reject the guy's proposal and pursue him out of her room.  The guy has be to able to persuade the girl before she can be on his side.

In the situation whereby the guy was caught, If the girl's parents doesn't like him, he would be thrown out through the window,  but if the parents likes him, the guy would be forced to marry the girl.

There are some situations whereby the girl's parents might be aware of the presence of the guy but pretend to be asleep if the guy is the suitor they will like to have for their daughter.

In addition, we would highlight some things you should also know about the Bhutanese.
